J60 Sour??? Why??

J60 Sour??? Why??

Why J60 Tastes Different

J60 was created to solve a common problem in endurance fueling: flavour fatigue.

During long training sessions and races, athletes often consume a combination of sweet gels, chews and carbohydrate drinks. As the hours accumulate, repeatedly consuming similar sweet flavours can become increasingly difficult. J60 was designed to provide a deliberate contrast—a sharp, sour watermelon flavour combined with carbohydrates and sodium for both fueling and hydration support.

The Sensory Experience

The flavour develops as you drink it.

A light watermelon sweetness arrives first at the front of the mouth. This is followed by a more powerful sour sensation that moves across the tongue and into the upper palate. The sodium then contributes a noticeable savoury edge, creating a lingering sweet, sour and slightly salty finish.

The result is bold and intentionally different from a conventional sweet sports drink.

Rather than adding another similar flavour to your fueling plan, J60 is designed to cut through the sweetness of gels, chews and other carbohydrate products. Alternating between sweet fuel and the sharper profile of J60 can provide greater flavour variation during longer sessions.

Why Sourness and Sodium Change the Experience

Taste is influenced by more than flavouring alone. Carbohydrate contributes sweetness and body, acids create the sharp sour sensation, and sodium adds a subtle saline character. Together, these elements create a layered sensory profile rather than a simple watermelon flavour.

The sourness provides immediate contrast, while the sodium becomes more noticeable as the drink moves across the palate. This combination gives J60 its distinctive finish and reflects its dual purpose as both a carbohydrate and sodium-containing drink.

How J60 Fits Into a Fueling Plan

Each serve provides 40 grams of carbohydrate and 500 milligrams of sodium, allowing J60 to contribute to an athlete’s overall carbohydrate, fluid and electrolyte strategy.

It can be used:

  • As a standalone fuel and hydration drink

  • Alongside carbohydrate gels or chews

  • Alternated with sweeter products during longer sessions

  • When an athlete wants a stronger, sharper flavour later in training or racing

Fluid, carbohydrate and sodium needs vary between athletes and conditions. J60 should therefore be incorporated into a broader fueling plan based on session duration, intensity, temperature, sweat rate and individual tolerance.

An Intentionally Bold Product

J60 was never intended to taste like a mild, conventional sports drink. Its sour watermelon profile was deliberately developed to provide contrast when other fuel begins to taste overly sweet.

It delivers sweetness first, sourness through the middle and a lightly salty finish—giving athletes a distinctly different option within a complete endurance fueling strategy.

Bold by design. Sour for a reason. Fuel and hydration
